OUSD becomes available through BVNK's payment stack
BVNK announced on 6 November that Open USD, or OUSD, is live on its platform for eligible business customers outside the European Economic Area. Customers can mint, redeem, hold, send and receive the stablecoin with one-to-one conversion against USD balances. BVNK supports OUSD on Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo. Businesses can use it directly for treasury and payments, embed wallets, pay-ins and payouts into customer products through APIs, or obtain wholesale mint-and-burn access using virtual IBANs and automated conversion rules. BVNK describes OUSD as an enterprise-payment stablecoin governed through the Open Standard consortium, whose ecosystem includes Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock and Coinbase. The company says minting and redemption carry no fee, but the announcement does not remove network costs, counterparty exposure, jurisdictional restrictions or the need to assess the legal treatment of the asset in each payment flow.
What it means for merchants
Businesses considering OUSD should compare total network and conversion costs, supported jurisdictions, redemption terms and operational controls with existing stablecoins, then run a limited treasury or payout pilot before exposing customer balances.
