A new rail inside a multi-rail network

Movantis announced on 29 October that it has added the Stellar network to its cross-border payment infrastructure, beginning with USDC settlement for flows from the United States to El Salvador. Stellar handles the digital settlement leg, while Movantis uses regulated local infrastructure and partners for liquidity, currency conversion where required and last-mile payout. The company says its existing network processes more than $60 billion annually across over 200 million transactions and 90,000 payout locations.

Fiat delivery remains part of the model

The integration is positioned as an additional rail rather than a replacement for bank and local-payment infrastructure. Remittance companies, fintechs and wallets can use the Movantis connection to reach Latin American recipients, with collection, conversion, stablecoin settlement and local fiat payout coordinated through one architecture. Movantis expects the model to support more B2B and consumer corridors, but the announcement does not provide pricing, settlement-service levels or corridor-by-corridor availability beyond the initial US–El Salvador route. Stablecoin speed therefore should not be confused with guaranteed end-to-end payout speed.

Editorial analysis

What it means for merchants

Businesses considering the corridor should test total delivery time, FX spread, USDC custody and redemption, beneficiary identification, sanctions screening and failed-payout handling—not evaluate the service on blockchain settlement alone.
