Product and availability data for agents
NielsenIQ and Google announced a collaboration on 29 October intended to improve AI-led product discovery and local availability. NIQ plans to connect Commerce Intelligence covering more than 250 million products, store locations and sales across 90 countries with Google’s commerce ecosystem and Shopping Graph, which Google says contains more than 60 billion product listings. Specific integration milestones were not announced.
Measurement joins discovery
The partnership also covers marketing measurement. NIQ is integrating Google’s open-source Meridian marketing-mix framework into its Cadence platform so brands can combine retail sales data with media analysis and location-based experiments. Separately, NIQ named Google Cloud a primary AI and cloud provider and plans to deploy Gemini for business internally. For merchants, the announcement reinforces that agentic discovery depends on accurate catalogue attributes, availability and store data—not only descriptive copy. However, it does not establish that products will automatically gain placement in Google experiences or that participating brands will see a particular conversion lift.
What it means for merchants
Retailers should improve product identifiers, variants, stock status, location data and measurement discipline now, while treating agentic-commerce visibility and return claims as testable outcomes rather than guaranteed benefits.
