Separate orchestration from acceptance
An orchestration platform can manage connections, routing and reporting, but those functions do not grant acquiring approval. Each processing route still needs appropriate merchant onboarding and permission for the intended activity and markets. A cashier is the customer-facing payment experience; its available methods depend on the configured and enabled providers behind it.
Verify the exact integration relationship
Ask whether each required provider connection is live, who maintains it and which functions are supported. Collection, refunds, recurring payments, token use and payouts may have different capabilities. The platform name alone is not enough: confirm the connector version, required contracts, credentials and any certification process before scheduling implementation.
Compare routing and operational control
Record the rules you need for routing, retry behavior, decline handling, reporting and reconciliation. Ask how duplicate processing is prevented, how an outage is escalated and how failed or uncertain transactions are resolved. Changes to routing must remain within approved provider scope; adding another PSP does not override restrictions or contract duties.
Plan implementation and switching costs
Compare setup, platform, connector and transaction charges alongside internal integration work. Understand token portability, data access, reporting exports and the process for adding or leaving a provider. Use current technical documentation and a written scope to validate the fit. Payment Guide’s integration filters show recorded evidence only and do not certify compatibility or predict authorization performance.
Frequently asked questions
Does a cashier integration guarantee merchant acceptance?
No. The provider behind the connection still assesses the business and authorizes the processing route.
Should I compare only the number of connected PSPs?
No. Prioritize live connections to your approved providers and the exact functions, markets and operational controls you need.
Can orchestration replace underwriting?
No. Routing and software connectivity do not replace provider onboarding, licensing review or business-risk assessment.
